Digital Dust
Servers like Aus-TG offer a gaming experience that is unique from any first person shooter game on the market, allowing players to roleplay the zombie apocalypse and engage in intense aerial combat. Many of you may be wondering, how do I get started? What does BHOP, Surfing or Zombie Escape even mean? This page will help answer some of these questions.
The first step is to join the servers, this is demonstrated in the video below.
Toxic Gaming Australia has a total of 6 servers, between them there are 5 game modes; Casual Competitive, 1v1, BHOP, Surf and Zombie escape.
Casual competitive; is the standard game mode that is already provided by the original developers. It involves a number of rounds, each of which will count down to zero. Within this alloted time, two teams, the terrorists and counter-terrorists are pitted against each other.
The role of the terrorists is to eliminate all of the players on the opposing team, this will grant them a win. Alternatively they can plant a bomb in a designated area, which will count down. If the bomb is diffused by the counter-terrorists, they will lose, however if the bomb counts down and explodes, the terrorists will win the round, regardless of whether they have eliminated the other team or if they themselves have been eliminated.
The role of the counter-terrorists is similiar, they can win a round by killing all of the enemies, alternatively they can win by diffusing a planted bomb. One other win condition for the counter-terrorists is if the round counts down to zero with the terrorists failing to planting bombs or eliminate the counter-terrorists.
1v1; is a game mode that does away with all of the theatrics concerning bombs, countdowns and for that matter teams. It is simply a deathmatch between two players, as they try to kill each other. Typically, players will use the same weapon and play on perfectly symetric maps, so that the conditions are equal when a players skill is pitted against another.
BHOP; is short for "bunny hopping" and is a term that describes the act of jumping repeatedly in a first person shooter. There are many strategic advantages to bunny hopping including speed, dodging bullets and traversing across obstacles. On the AUS-TG servers, the in game physics are modified to make it easier to bunny hop, and players are free to practise it in timed races or combat.
Surf; is an alternative game mode in which players glide against giant objects to traverse the skies. These objects are typically giant floating objects which look like the following
Typically players will jump from a platform and find themselves digging into the the sides of these structures.
When they are to the left of the arch, all they have to do is strafe right or hold D in order to continue moving againsts its surface. When players find themselves to the right of these structures, they similarly must hold A to ensure that they don't fall to their deaths. This is the principle method where players glide, gain momentum and ultimately surf. On AUS-TG there are a variety of surf maps, some of which revolve around aerial combat, others are simply obstacle courses where players attempt to go from start to finish.
Zombie Escape; is the game mode that in the past has proven most popular to AUS-TG. Essentially it involves two teams, zombies and humans. The goal of the humans is to reach the end point of the map, In doing so, they must fight off hordes of zombies with guns and special powers and run quickly to various points of the map where they can activate doors and vehicles. The role of the zombies is simple, to convert the humans. The zombies will chase the humans continuously, and if a zombie directly attacks a human, the human is instantly converted into another zombie. The zombies have vast amounts of hit points and can soak bullets like a sponge, however they can only use their knives and their movement speed is decreased when they are hit by bullets.
